Sikacrete® PP1

Concrete admixture

Sikacrete® PP1 is a concrete admixture of the new generation in powder form, based on the Sika silica fume technology. Complies with ASTM C 1240.

Sikacrete® PP1 contains extremely fine (particle size < 0.1mm) latently reactive silicon dioxide.   The presence of this substance greatly improves internal cohesion and water retentivity. The concrete becomes extremely cohesive and the pumping properties are substantially improved. In the hardened concrete the latently reactive silica fume forms a chemical bond with the free lime. When used together with a Sikament superplasticizer, the concrete will show the following properties:
  • Excellent workability
  • Increased durability
  • High early strengths
  • Increased ultimate strengths
  • Increased resistance to abrasion
  • Increased sulfate resistance
  • Greatly increased impermeability
  • Greatly increased resistance to gas permeability
  • Highly reduced chloride diffusion
Sikacrete® PP1 contains no chlorides or other potentially corrosive substances.

Usage

Sikacrete® PP1 is used in structural concrete, precast concrete, and other fields of concrete construction where extra demands are made on the quality of fresh and hardened concrete.

Specific Advice

Sikacrete® PP-1 is added with the cement to the concrete at the batching plant before the gauging water. Optimum mixing time: 90 seconds. The quantity of water should be adjusted to suit the dosage of Sikacrete® PP1, Sikament and final consistency of concrete required.

Recommended Dosage

5 – 10% by weight of cement. For optimum results in concrete, always use in conjunction with a superplasticiser from the Sikament and Viscorete ranges.
