Sika® Plastiment® TM-28

WATER REDUCING AND SET RETARDING CONCRETE ADMIXTURE

Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 is a water reducing and retarding concrete admixture, specially designed for roller compacted concrete (RCC)
Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 meets the requirements of ASTM C 494 Type B & D

In fresh state
  • Initial setting is delayed allowing time for proper placement and compacting new layer over the retarded RCC, without cold joint
  • Decrease the mortar of concrete bonding volume
  • Increase the time available to re compacting the concrete without damaging the material. After the initial set heavy transits can dam age the newly hydrated RCC.
  • Increase of the cement efficiency
  • Diminish the rate of initial heat generation
In hardened state
  • Increase the mechanical strengths in any weather conditions
  • Diminish the heat generation and the cracking risk
  • Increase the density of the RCC

Usage

Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 is used in structural and mass concrete where long setting times and improved workability are required, such as projects with:
  • Large pours, to prevent formation of cold joints in RCC dams etc
  • Long travel times from the concrete plant to the site
  • Difficult placing conditions and details
  • High ambient temperature

Compatibility

Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 may be combined with all Sikament, Sika® Aer, Sika®Pump, Sikacrete® PP1 products, but must be added separately to the mix and not pre-mixed prior its addition
Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 is compatible with all Portland Cement types

 

DISPENSING

Sika® Plastiment® TM-28 is added to the gauging water prior to its addition to the dry mix or added separately to the wetted concrete mix.
For optimum utilization of the ultra-high range water reducer we recommend a minimum wet mixing time of 60 seconds.
When adding the balance of the batching water to adjust concrete consistency this should be done after a minimum of 2/3 of the wet mixing time to avoid surplus water in the concrete.
