Product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C to +35 °C. They must be protected from direct sunlight, rain, snow and ice. Always refer to packaging.

The coverage of SikaTop®-540 Seal VN is 1 kg/m² per coat to obtain an approximate wet film thickness of 0.8 mm (± 0.08mm). Actual coverage may vary depending on the the method of application, the texture and porosity of the surface.

Recommended consumption:

• Waterproofing bathrooms, terraces, balconies: ~2.0 - 3.0 kg/m²
• Waterproofing above 1m water pressure: ~3.0 kg/m²

Always requires at 2-3 coats. For area with extremely high infiltration, 3 coats may be required.

Correct substrate preparation is critical for optimal performance. Surfaces should be structurally sound, clean, and free from laitance, loose particles, oil, grease, old coatings, curing compounds, or any other contaminants. Remove oil, grease, and wax by scrubbing with industrial-grade detergent or degreasing compounds before mechanical preparation. Cement laitance, loose particles, mold release agents, curing membranes, and other contaminants must be removed by shot-blasting, grinding, or scarifying, followed by vacuum cleaning.

Mechanical mixing is essential. A slow-speed (~300 rpm), heavy-duty electric drill with a wing-type paddle is recommended. Begin by placing approximately 75% of Part A into a clean pail. While keeping the mixer running, slowly add Part B. Mix for at least 3 minutes until a lump-free, homogeneous mix is achieved. Continue mixing while adding the remaining of Part A if applying on a horizontal surface, or only part of it if applying on vertical surfaces, until the desired consistency is reached. Allow the mixture to stand for 2-3 minutes, then remix for an additional 2-3 minutes before application.

While the substrate is still damp from saturation, apply the first coat.

Allow it to harden for approximately 4-8 hours at temperatures above 20 °C before applying the second coat. For slurry consistency, apply with a hard plastic-bristled brush, broom, or trowel.

For floor applications, to avoid the risk of damage to the previous coats, it is recommended to apply the next coat after 24 hours. If the subsequent coat is applied 12 hours or later, the surface should be slightly prewetted, preferably using fine spraying.

SikaTop®-540 Seal VN must be protected against rapid drying due to direct sun exposure, high temperatures or wind. Curing by wet burlap, polyethylene sheet or a curing compound such as Sika® Antisol® S is recommended.

Clean tools using water and rags before the resin system hardens. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
