SikaProof®-808

Fully bonded TPO sheet membrane for below ground waterproofing

SikaProof®-808 is a TPO based sheet membrane for below ground waterproofing of reinforced concrete structures. A special hybrid bonding layer on the membrane forms a full and permanent dual bond with the concrete structure. The membrane can be pre or post-applied. Overlap joints are sealed using cold-applied tapes or by thermal jointing. The total thickness is 1,00 mm.

Usage

The Product is used for:
  • Damp-proofing, waterproofing and concrete protection for basements and other below ground concrete structures

Storage conditions

The Product must be stored in original unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions and temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Store in a horizontal position. Do not stack pallets on top of each other.

System Structure

For the pre-applied system, the following system products must be used:

  • SikaProof®-808 sheet membrane

  • SikaProof® Tape-120 for detailing and for internal jointing

For the post-applied system, the following products are part of the system:

  • SikaProof®-808 sheet membrane (≤ 1m width membrane)

  • SikaShield® W1 adhesive 

Complementary products are available for detailing and joint solutions.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT

Strictly follow installation procedures

Strictly follow installation procedures as defined in Method Statements, application manuals and working instructions which must always be adjusted to the actual site conditions.

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

Pre-Applied

SikaProof®-808 membrane must be applied on a sufficiently stable substrate to avoid movement during the construction works. The substrate surface must be smooth, uniform and clean. The substrate can be damp or slightly wet, avoid ponding water. 

Use Geotextile ≥300 g/m2 to protect the membrane from sharp aggregates on the blinding concrete surface.

Post-Applied

The SikaProof®-808 post-applied system must be applied on to hardened concrete (≥ 48 hours after pouring). Remove any weak concrete, high spots/protrusions, existing coatings, etc., to achieve a fine-gripping profile that is free from dirt, lose particles, grease, formwork release agents, oil and any other from of surface contamination.

Application by trained personnel

The application of this Product must only be carried out by an applicator that is trained or approved by Sika. The applicator must also be experienced in this type of application.

Unsuitable weather conditions for application

Do not install the membrane during continuous or prolonged rain, snowfall or sandstorm. 

 

IMPORTANT

Penetrations and construction joints

Additional Sika joint sealing solutions must be used for connections around penetrations and for construction joints.

IMPORTANT

Covering the membrane system

Permanent exposure to UV light will reduce the performance of the membrane system.

  1. Concrete must be placed within 60 days after membrane system installation.
  2. Proper concrete installation (mix design and workmanship) is required to achieve optimum bond of the membrane system to the concrete.
