Dry shake floor hardener

Sikafloor®-2 SynTop is a high performance synthetic dry-shake hardener for concrete comprising of cement, hard aggregates, compatible admixtures and coloured pigments.
Sikafloor®-2 SynTop contains very hard, well-graded synthetic aggregates.

Usage

Sikafloor®-2 SynTop provides a hard wearing, dry shake topping for monolithic floors. When sprinkled and trowelled into fresh wet concrete floors, it forms a coloured, wear resistant smooth surface.   Suitable for use in all cases where floors are subjected to severe mechanical wear and there is a need to apply special hard wearing surface coverings, such as:
  • Warehouses;
  • Distribution centers;
  • Mechanical engineering workshops;
  • Factories;
  • Supermarkets and shopping malls;
  • Garages, etc.;
  • Aircraft hangers.

According to the ambient temperature and the kind of cement used in the slab, waiting time should be:

  • Pedestrian traffic: 2–3 days
  • Light traffic vehicles: 7–10 days
  • Normal traffic: 28 days

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

As soon as the substrate of concrete has reached plasticity (after bleeding, but before setting begins) smooth out the surfacing of the freshly poured concrete and level off with a vibrating straight edge.

APPLICATION

Sprinkle the Sikafloor®-2 SynTop mixture “by hand” over the smooth wet surface, at a rate of ~5 kg/m². Allow the Sikafloor®-2 SynTop to absorb moisture from the substrate and when evenly moist, consolidate, power float the surface of the Sikafloor®-2 SynTop.

Smoothing out: As soon as the mixture becomes plastic or just as it is about to set, carry out a pre-smoothing operation with the power float machine running at a low speed but fitted with a metal blade’s at a minimum inclination. The final smoothing operation (if necessary) is carried out some time later, but with the power float machine running at a high speed.

CURING TREATMENT

Sikafloor®-2 SynTop mixture surface must be protected to prevent rapid water loss which can result in surface cracks. Therefore approved curing system shall be applied.
