Sika® DryCast-1

DRY CAST CONCRETE PRODUCT ADMIXTURE

Sika® DryCast-1 is admixture which has been specifically developed for dry cast concrete products manufacture. Sika® DryCast-1 is designed for use with zero or low slump concrete commonly used in the manufacture of dry cast concrete products.

Sika® DryCast-1 offers substantial benefits to the producer of semi-dry/no-slump concrete products:
  • Efficient dispersion and distribution of cement, additives and pigments;
  • Air entrainment;
  • Improved movement of the concrete through the machine (faster mould filling);
  • Optimized compaction with shorter pressing time and increased throughput (shorter production cycle);
  • Minimized friction between the mould and the concrete (Reductions in equipment wear and tear);
  • Reduced adhesion/stickiness between top layer concrete and pressing head/tamper (equipment/tools);
  • Increased “green” strength on immediate de-moulding (keeps the shape of freshly de-moulded semi-dry concrete products because it prevents slumping after de-moulding);
  • More economic concrete mix designs;
  • Create superior products;
  • Consistent product quality due to a homogenous concrete mix;
  • Increased density;
  • Less variation in densities and strengths across the area of the mould (constant spread of density & strength over the pallet);
  • Minimized damage due to early handling;
  • Enhanced early and ultimate compressive and tensile strengths.

Usage

Sika® DryCast-1 is utilized where an improvement in appearance of the dry cast concrete products is required. This is achieved by creating better slick, improving moldability, enhancing cohesion and increasing early age strength.
Sika® DryCast-1 performs best when added to low slump dry cast concrete mixes. It provides a more efficient utilization of mixing water by aiding the dispersion of cement particles. Sika® DryCast-1 will also improve the appearance and density of dry cast concrete products.

Technical Information

Specific Advice

Sika® DryCast-1 is added to the gauging water prior to its addition to the dry mix or added separately to the wetted concrete mix.
For optimum utilization of admixture we recommend a minimum wet mixing time of 60 seconds.
When adding the balance of the batching water to adjust concrete consistency this should be done after a minimum of 2/3 of the wet mixing time to avoid surplus water in the concrete.

Compatibility

Sika® DryCast-1 may be combined with all Sikament, Sika® Aer, Sika® Pump, Sikacrete® PP-1 products, but must be added separately to the mix and not pre-mixed prior its addition.
Sika® DryCast-1 is compatible with all Portland cement types.

0.2–1.0 L per 100 kg of cement
Typical 0.4–0.8 L per 100 kg
